In a surprising turn of events, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has decided to postpone their planned "July Revolution Declaration" and instead hold a "March for Unity" on Tuesday, December 31, at the Central Shaheed Minar.

The announcement was made during a press conference on the morning of the same day, held at Rupayan Tower in Dhaka.

Arif Sohel, the general secretary of the movement, spoke about the importance of the "July Revolution Declaration," which he described as a powerful symbol of the sacrifices made by martyrs and the struggles of the injured. He said the declaration was not just a document, but also a reflection of the dreams and hopes of the people.

“This declaration is extremely important as it recognizes the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs and those who were hurt, while also capturing the aspirations of the people,” Arif stated. “As the leading organization in the people‍‍`s revolution, it is our historic duty to create and announce this declaration.”

Arif further emphasized that despite facing many challenges, the movement has taken up the responsibility of drafting and announcing this historic document, representing both the students and the wider population of Bangladesh.

“Despite various challenges, we, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, on behalf of the students and the people of Bangladesh, have taken on the responsibility of formulating and declaring this historic document,” he added.

He also shared that their initiative has received positive, spontaneous support from students and the general public.

In response to this support, the government has decided to begin work on the July Declaration with the goal of forming a national consensus.

“Thanks to the enthusiasm of the people, the government has recognized the importance of this timely move.

As part of this, the ‍‍`March for Unity‍‍` will take place today at 3 PM at the Central Shaheed Minar,” Arif said.

The movement is urging people to come out and show their support, asking everyone to join the march and keep up the momentum of this important cause.

Abdul Hannan Masud, the coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, also addressed the media.

He confirmed that their efforts had already achieved an initial victory, as the government had agreed to the declaration of the July Revolution.

“We’ve already achieved a preliminary victory. The government has agreed to the July Revolution Declaration. This declaration will come directly from the government, but this doesn’t mean our rally will stop,” he explained.

The press conference was attended by several other coordinators and members of the National Citizen Committee, who all voiced their support for the movement’s actions.

The shift from the original plan of declaring the July Revolution to focusing on unity shows the movement‍‍`s adaptability and its ongoing influence in shaping the political landscape.

The "March for Unity" is set to be a major event as people from all walks of life are expected to participate and make their voices heard.
